Shoes are our passion. That’s why we put our heart and soul into the production of SOFTCLOX. Around 100 different steps go into transforming a wooden block into a finished shoe, most of which are done by hand. Perfection is our goal, expertise, teamwork and finesse are our tools. For example, we hand pick all our pairs of soles to ensure that the structure and shading of the wood match perfectly. No machine can do that!
We love wood! At the heart of every SOFTCLOX is our unique, flexible wooden sole. We use only the very best poplar wood for this purpose. As it is sourced from sustainably cultivated forests in Austria, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia (see map), the transport routes are also as short as possible. The fast growing wood is gradually dried over a period of two years and then processed together with the quiet-tread PU and transformed into lightweight, comfortable soles. This is the only way to make sure it becomes a genuine SOFTCLOX!
It is with a clear conscience that we can refer to ourselves as a women-friendly company – and not only because SOFTCLOX get women’s hearts racing. Most of our employees are women who work in flexible part-time job models, each of them in a way that is compatible with their personal and family situation. Founder Cristina Mühle, who has a daughter herself, values the potential that mothers bring to the workplace: “They are well organised, tough and take things on with self-assurance. SOFTCLOX can only benefit from their contribution.” Womanpower also benefits our customers. After all, who could better understand what women are looking for than women themselves!
Fair wage and pricing policies as well as fair trading conditions are a matter of course for us. We strive to maintain long-term, cooperative relationships with trade and business partners that are characterised by openness and mutual respect. Our production sites operate on the basis of compliance with environmental and social standards.
SOFTCLOX are “friends for life”! They are intended to become a cherished friend for our customers, accompanying them over many years and alleviating their everyday life thanks to their unique wearing comfort. The fact that they have to meet our strict requirements regarding materials and production standards means that we can guarantee their durability. But just in case there is a problem, we have set up a repair service in our production facility.
Nature participates in design at SOFTCLOX. This is reason enough for us to put priority on slowing things down a little in the otherwise hectic world of fashion. One fashion collection per season and the careful processing of durable materials is our answer to the throwaway mentality. As we are not interested in fashion that is not highly valued, we expect our SOFTCLOX to accompany our customers and their high standards for many years. We see slow fashion as an inner attitude rather than a trend.
