The trend already started in autumn/winter 2020 and is now omnipresent. The slipper-like clog has conquered the hearts of fashion fans worldwide. Whether as a slipper to match stay-at-home chic or as streetwear pieces - wooden clogs will continue to assert themselves as a fashion trend in spring/summer 2022.
What are clogs actually?
Clogs (also known as Klotschen) evolved from work shoes that used to have a wooden sole. Originally from England, the clog spread to Scandinavia and finally to the Netherlands, as a so-called "wooden shoe". Since clogs are practical and robust shoes, they're still worn today by medical or kitchen staff as work shoes. Wooden clogs first achieved fashionable fame in the 1970s. The heels became higher and the shoe a typical accessory of hippie fashion.

The fashion trend back to natural is also visible in shoe fashion. The popular clog has conquered the runways of famous international designers.
Highly crafted from smooth or suede leather with a natural wooden sole, the shoes match beautifully to maxi dresses and skirts. For a cool edgy look, clogs can be styled with a blazer. They also look great with casual outfits, such as straight or boyfriend jeans and an oversized shirt. Fashionistas combine wooden clogs with floral or frilly socks; those who prefer a more natural style wear them barefoot with denim overalls or a crochet dress.
