Leather care for your shoes - how to make your SOFTCLOX winterproof.

No doubt about it - you will definitely walk stylishly through the winter with SOFTCLOX leather boots! But are leather and wooden soles appropriate for rain and snow? How can you care for your leather shoes so that they stay beautiful for as long as possible? Find out which care is best for shoes made of smooth leather and suede and how you can safely clean off mud and dirt:

How to clean and care for leather shoes.

You can gently rub off slight dirt on leather and wooden soles with a soft brush or cloth. For coars dirt, use lukewarm soapy water, e.g. with a little wool detergent, and a soft sponge. Carefully rub the entire shoe and make sure it is really wet. Don't worry: cleaning suede shoes is just as easy as cleaning smooth leather! Then allow SOFTCLOX to dry slowly by itself, never on the heating or in the sun.

To impregnate or not to?

The wooden sole of your SOFTCLOX is not water-sensitive and therefore does not need to be impregnated. But for the leather a protective film against moisture or dirt can be useful. Spray a good waterproofing spray on it (check on a small, hidden spot on the shoe!) with a distance of at least 30 cm and let the shoes dry well afterwards. If necessary, polish smooth leather with a soft, dry cloth - and you're done!

Are SOFTCLOX shoes waterproof?

The SOFTCLOX wooden sole is not affected by wetness! The wood does not swell and the leather of the shoes is not damaged if it gets wet. Important here too: Let the shoes dry slowly , not on the heater or in the sun, so that the wood does not crack.

Leather shoes are not completely waterproof , but definitely waterresistant .

How to care for the wooden soles:

For quick care, you can use colourless linseed oil or baby oil. Simply work small amounts of oil gently into the wood with a cloth. Faded wood can also be refreshed with furniture oil of the same colour. Especially for our dark soles we can recommend this oil .

Our SOFTCLOX wooden soles love gentle care - so use the care product sparingly, better apply carefully twice and do not touch the leather with the oil.

So your SOFTCLOX soles will look like new in winter.

Do SOFTCLOX keep the feet warm in winter?

Absolutely, that is one of the greatest qualities of our SOFTCLOX. Wood has a naturally temperature-balancing effect. It quickly absorbs its own body heat and releases it constantly and slowly. This keeps your feet comfortably warm.

Try it out, for example, when sledging or enjoying a winter walk - as you move, the heat cycle stays active and your feet stay warm all round. Because the isolation from below is also exceptionally good due to the wood in combination with the non-slip sole made of PU (polyurethane).

For those who want to be especially warm and cosy, choose our models lined with genuine lambskin

How slip-proof are SOFTCLOX?

The underside of all SOFTCLOX wooden soles, the so-called outsole, is made of PU (polyurethane). It scores with lightness and very high cushioning properties. PU is also known for its high slip resistance - which is why it is often used for work shoes, for example in kitchens. Under our SOFTCLOX shoes, the PU coating provides a good grip when walking in winter and at the same time keeps the cold off from below.

The soles of all models with the initials O, U and I have a very strong profile, which gives even more grip in mud and snow.

  1. Hallo,
