Clogs for women and wooden clogs for men

Wooden clogs are absolute classics that celebrate their comeback in the fashion world time and again. Whether spring is knocking on the door, summer is already here or our feet want to be cozy and comfortable in autumn or winter, what could be nicer and more practical than enjoying this in a pair of flexible, stylish clog shoes from Softclox? Be it a classic clog, winter clogs for women with warm fur lining or the currently highly fashionable clogs with cow print, leo print, other animal print or another pair of all 80 variants of our wooden women clogs and men clogs with flexible soles. We at Softclox love (of course ;-) the wooden clog trend and think that flexible clogs belong in every shoe cabinet. Wooden clogs are simply suitable for every occasion and as particularly comfortable clogs, Softclox are even perfect as slip ons with their whisper-quiet soles. With all these advantages and in addition to being easy to put on and take off, a clog fan may ask the question:

Are clogs good or bad for your feet?

All clogs from Softclox offer toes the necessary room to move, which podiatrist also confirm as one of the most important features of clog shoes or sabots . The second important indication of healthy clogs are men's and women's clogs with a footbed. If the footbed is anatomically correct, means that it corresponds to the natural shape of the foot, it supports our feet in such a way that they can straighten the body and stabilize joints. The footbed in all Softclox clogs, women's clogs and men's clogs, is constructed in exactly this way and supports the sole of the foot in the right places so that it can keep the body in harmonious balance. It is therefore a decisive advantage if the sole of a shoe deforms as little as possible or, better still, not at all.

Unlike cork or leather shoe soles, Softclox wooden soles cannot be worn out. What's more, Softclox clogs also fulfill another crucial health aspect: thanks to their flexible wooden sole and the unique Softclox effect, they roll softly and provide the foot with soft cushioning when stepping on them. It is outstanding that the area of the wooden sole that comes into contact with the floor, i.e. the outsole, is made of soft rubber (polyurethane, PU for short). This material is also particularly abrasion-resistant, meaning it hardly wears off and, importantly for the home, leaves no streaks. Many strong arguments, all of which provide the answer: how good are Softclox clogs for your feet!

Softclox - the specialists for unique flexible wooden Clogs!

Our vision was to develop a shoe that combines stylish design with the positive wearing and environmental properties of wood. The rigid and heavy wooden sole of the classic clog as we know it from the 70s has been replaced by a highly flexible, lightweight version made of poplar wood. High-quality rubber (PU) inserts in the sole make our special clogs shoes comfortable, as the feet can roll gently when walking. This innovative sole is our trademark and has made us the leading clog manufacturer on the European market. The production of our durable clogs with flexible soles requires great craftsmanship and high-quality materials. As part of this world, we feel responsible for making our contribution through responsible and sustainable manufacturing - and therefore produce exclusively in Europe. Especially nice: Softclox is a finalist for the German Sustainability Award. The fact that the clogs shoes are surprisingly light despite the wooden sole enhances the wow effect the moment you slip them on. As the icing on the cake, the soft PU sole profile prevents rattling when walking. Since Softclox, every clog has gone from hard, heavy and loud to flexible, light, quiet and simply all-round comfortable.

Are women´s clogs still in style in 2025?

Yes, especially for ladies, the trend for women clogs that started again a few years ago, is continuing. Softclox clogs are still the perfect choice in 2025 for anyone who likes a fahionable and casual look. So if you're wondering: are ladies clogs and mules still in style, you can trust us as the clog specialist! It's not for nothing that you'll find over 80 variants of wooden clogs for women in our range; we reckon we have the largest selection in the world. They are available in neutral shades and bright colours, we offer flat clogs and high heel clogs for women and now also clogs for men. However, the Softclox clog that deserves special attention in 2025 is the clog with animal print, e.g. cow print clogs or leopard print clogs.  We have none other than the creative director of Louis Vuitton, Pharell Williams, to thank for this exceptionally animal print fashion trend, who recently presented his cowboy-inspired collection. Not to forget: all our models, really all of them, are particularly comfortable women's Clogs.

Is it ok for men to wear Clogs?

With such a prominent role model (see above), it's no wonder that men are also increasingly discovering the trend for clogs and especially soft clog shoes for men with flexible wooden soles; after all, they fulfill everything the male heart desires: comfortable and quick to put on and take off, the toes are covered, they are cool and comfortable at the same time, absolutely easy to care for and, last but not least, they emphasise masculine taste in an individual way. All men's wooden clogs in sizes 9,5 to 12,5 (EU 43-47)  are available here, as well as the popular men's leather clogs in soft velours or soft black leather. Of course, all men's clogs have a footbed and, as quiet and lightweight clogs, are also ideal as slippers. It's the real blokes who swap their plastic duck shoes for the cool Softclox clogs for gardening, on the terrace or when camping ;-).

Do you wear socks with Clogs?

A word about clogs and socks: of course our flexible clogs can be worn with socks and as you can see from fashionable role models, it is definitely stylish. But it's worth slipping into the clogs barefoot. You'll love the smooth feeling of natural wood under your feet! Walking on nature has never been so light... literally...

How do you spell clog correctly?

Clogs are spelt exactly like this, ‘clog’ or ‘clogs’. All other spellings, such as cloggs, clocks shoes, glocks shoes, cloks, kloks, klocks or cloques are not correct according to the dictionary. Only the clogs from Softclox have the ‘X’ at the end. This is their mark of independence and distinctiveness. Only they have the pioneering technology, the Softclox effect, which combines fashion and comfort in a unique way. And in every Softclox clog you will find the typical flexible and anatomically correct footbed. The foot can roll softly on it and is gently guided with every step. Simply brilliant: even after hours, our feet still feel so fresh and relaxed - whatever the temperature!

So if you want to experience spring/summer or autumn/winter in a duo with comfort, then Softclox are the best answer. They sweeten your every step and are the perfect choice for all women who want to combine comfort and style to create a distinctive look. And as mentioned above: the outstanding Softclox feeling is now also available for (real ;-) men, see men's Clogs.

What else are clogs called around the world?

Zoggeli is the name given to wooden clogs in Switzerland or zoccoli, as they are also known in Italy. They were already very popular there in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Austrians like to call clogs shoes Töffla in their own way. Holzklotschen or Blotschen, sometimes affectionately Klepper, is the name given to wooden clogs in central and northern Germany. The southern Germans, on the other hand, call their clogs Holzklapperl or simply KIapperl, which are still well known as unisex clogs from the 70s. Back then, they were worn by girls, women, boys and men alike.

Klompen, on the other hand, is the Dutch name for their typical wooden shoe, which is actually made entirely of wood. So they are not just shoes with a wooden sole, like our Softclox, but are made entirely of wood. Perhaps it is also due to this traditional understanding that our clogs with flexible wooden soles are so extremely popular in the Netherlands.

The French, on the other hand, call them sabots; a common term for German fashionistas too. However, the basic shape of a sabot is often referred to a toe-closed, rather flat shoe that does not necessarily have a wooden sole. French women have also appreciated the comfort of Softclox sabots with flexible wooden soles for many years. You can find an exciting excursion into the history of clogs below...

Why clogs shoes from Softclox are sustainable

As a shoe manufacturer, we are committed to environmental awareness and the sustainable use of all resources. The wood for the soles comes exclusively from sustainable forestry in Europe and only high-quality materials from Europe are used. This guarantees short transport routes. You can look forward to only high-quality clogs in our range.

Softclox also stands for slow fashion - which is another reason why we describe ourselves as a sustainable shoe label. Of course, this also applies to our clogs with natural wooden soles. The flexible wooden shoes are durable and the design is chosen so that they are in vogue for more than one season. We think they are far too valuable to be worn for just one or two Seasons!

What is the difference between clogs and mules?

Mules and clogs are open-heeled shoes; this is where the definition of clogs and mules overlaps. But in the shoe world, mules are usually used to describe shoes that are both open-heeled and open-toed. Of course, Softclox also has a large and particularly pretty selection of mules, the women's wooden mules. If that's too confusing for you: a clog is also a mule, but sometimes mules means slip on shoes. This is where the definition in the shoe world becomes a little blurred.

Why clogs from Softclox? Because your feet deserve it!

Long days, lots of travelling, and your feet get hot, ache and are tired at the end of the day. Who wouldn't want to break this cycle? With Softclox clogs for women and now also for men, this is finally possible. Not only are they fashionable, but with their innovative technology - the so-called Softclox effect and its flexible wooden sole - they offer exactly the comfort you need for a long day. Softclox clogs have been developed to support foot health and at the same time shine with modern designs. Especially if you're looking for leather clogs with a footbed, you'll find what you're looking for among our many wooden clogs. History of wooden clogs - from the world of work to the catwalk

Clogs originated in England around the 19th century, where they were used as work shoes. Wooden clogs then travelled to Scandinavia and the Netherlands, where they became known as ‘wooden shoes’.

The clog has even made history: The wooden shoe with a leather toe cap is called a ‘sabot’ in French. At the beginning of the mechanisation of agriculture, French farm workers threw their clogs - their sabots - into the mowing and threshing machines that took away their jobs. The sabots blocked the mechanics, clogged up the machines and rendered them unusable. This gave rise to the term ‘sabotage’.

The wooden shoes first became popular in the fashion world in the 1970s. Back then, wooden clogs were worn as a unisex model and their wearers were characterised by flowing hair and flared trousers, corduroy fabrics and a passion for clogs. Prominent representatives of this era: Abba. Karl Lagerfeld brought clogs to a new high in 2010 when he sent his models down the catwalk wearing platform clogs with tweed Chanel costumes. Incidentally, this also sparked the Softclox clog hype.

Today, clogs are popular in many ways. Different types of women, many fashion styles and even men celebrate them with enthusiasm. Clogs with cow leather or other animal prints, such as leopard prints, are once again the absolute fashion trend at the moment. This time inspired by Pharrell Williams, the creative director of Louis Vuitton.

Shoes with wooden soles also have a firm place in the world of work. As they are practical and robust, they are still ideally suited to this day, for example as shoes for medical staff or as catering work shoes. With their outsole made of non-slip polyurethane (PU), Softclox are also extremely popular for kitchen staff, gardeners or campers - as weatherproof and waterproof camping shoes or garden clogs .

Why Softclox clogs are the best choice - whatever the Season!

By nature, Softclox wood has a temperature-regulating effect and ensures that feet don't get hot in summer - even when walking long distances. At Softclox, we also use breathable and high-quality upper and lining materials that allow your feet to breathe and ensure that you don't break a sweat on hot days. The airy mules, clogs and sandals also offer enough space for your feet so that you can enjoy them even on longer walks or outings and when you're wearing them for a long time. And if your feet do want to get some fresh air, you can always slip in and out of your Softclox clogs quickly.

In winter, Softclox keep your feet pleasantly warm for a long time. Our wood acts as a heat accumulator and only slowly releases the temperature to its surroundings. So just make sure that you slip into the clogs with reasonably warm feet and you will experience how your feet stay pleasantly warm for a long time. Of course, this applies all the more to the ankle boot with wooden sole or clog boots from Softclox.

And anyone who values sustainability will also be delighted: Softclox has received multiple awards, including the German Sustainability Award. The wood comes exclusively from sustainably managed forests in Europe and is the main component of every Softclox - and Co2-neutral. If you want to know more about why exactly Softclox clogs are sustainable, you can read more here.

Are Softclox clogs heavy?

Absolutely not, Softclox clogs are surprisingly light! You'll be more than satisfied with their weight, which is lighter than that of sneakers. The specially selected Softclox wood - usually poplar - is particularly light. Pay attention to the type of wood when buying, as this makes all the difference when it comes to weight. Willow, maple, birch or alder is significantly heavier and less comfortable. How light Softclox are, on the other hand, is something we experience time and again from our customers' reports from their holidays. A product that is so versatile, light, quiet and comfortable can also be taken on holiday. Softclox are easy to stow away, making them ideal for your suitcase or beach bag. And whether you're strolling through Mediterranean cities or relaxing on the beach: Your feet are always perfectly supported. And some Softclox have already seen more of the world than we have... 😍.

How should clogs fit?

If in doubt, for example if you are wavering between two shoe sizes, it is better to take the larger size. It's good if your foot has a little more room in the shoe. Our Softclox are pure fit miracles! No surprise, considering that our professional shoe designers take care of this very thing. We want all types of shoes, including clogs, to fit well and not pinch. Our name obliges... Softclox stands for soft, even though these are shoes with a (flexible) wooden sole. The ergonomically designed footbed ensures you feel completely comfortable. Not to mention the many fashionable styles. All of this makes up the Softclox effect. Experience it for yourself; you'll be surprised at how much wow our Softclox (that even we love ;-)  have. The brand's signature rolling wooden sole acts like a mini massage for your feet and reduces the strain on your joints – ideal if you're on your feet a lot. Softclox not only ensures that your feet are optimally supported, but also that they get the right amount of relaxation.

Why staples before and after the rubber Joint?

Softclox uses special staples before and after the rubber joint to ensure the wood can easily withstand the special forces in this area. Some of our women's clogs feature nails, while others – including our men's clogs – use staples, the clog's signature design element, for fastening. Regardless of the fastening method, all Softclox shoes are exceptionally durable.

Our extensive range includes recurring clog classics, as well as unusual clogs that are real eye-catchers. Whether classic wooden clogs, clogs with studs, clog sandals, clog pumps, closed-toe clogs, or open-toe clogs, depending on preference and occasion, women can choose flat clogs or clogs with heels. There are also different material options: suede clogs, leather clogs, or clogs with fur linen – for those who want warm clogs.

Perhaps the hardest part is choosing between the many different colors of comfortable wooden-soled clogs. You're spoiled for choice when it comes to solid-colored wooden clogs: black clogs women and black clogs men, brown clogs in all shades of brown (dark brown clogs, light brown clogs, cognac clogs, taupe clogs), blue clogs, white clogs, and animal print clogs (cow print clogs or leopard print clogs).
